Where is this year going already? This is day 7 of the Sgraffito Challenge which means it's January 7th. In my little pea-brain, I'm still supposed to be in Hawaii and the new year isn't supposed to have even started. Slow it down already!
Today's assignment finally allowed us to use a tool, anything we chose or made, to manipulate our powder into a drawing. The only restriction was that it couldn't be a paintbrush. I placed a further restriction on myself since I have another tool that I like even better than a paintbrush - it has a wedge-shaped rubber tip on a handle. (Actually, Amazon calls them rubber paintbrushes, so maybe it's not an additional restriction.) Anyway, I know from past powder drawing/painting experience that I love, love, love them, so I didn't let myself use one. Instead I grabbed a wooden skewer that was hanging out in my pencil cup.
There were no time restrictions today, but I have another exciting project I need to be working on, so I didn't spend much time drawing this raven. I'll be curious to see if I was able to create enough variation in powder thickness to let me see the feathers after it's fired. I'll let you know.
