The problem with vacationing in a place like Hawaii is that there isn't really much to write about when all you're doing is spending the day hanging out on the beach. I know, I know, I'm getting no sympathy. Trust me, I'm not complaining. Not every trip can be Peru or Bhutan, and that's okay with me. Anyway, we're spending Christmas vacation in Maui, the three of us and Thane's mom, Carol. We have a condo on the beach in South Kihei - all sorts of firsts for us. Anyway, we've been here two days and a bit, and have done nothing more exciting than a little boogie boarding, a bit of snorkeling, and a run on the beach. As I use this as a sort of public journal, I thought I'd just share a few photos from today.
One of the things I was really excited about for this trip was the opportunity to go running on the not-ice. I found a nice 3.3 mile loop yesterday. Today, I mixed it up with a run on the beach, too. Alright, running on the beach is really hard - I walked a lot. I took this photo at my turnaround point.
I didn't get any photos of us playing at the beach, so I'm skipping right ahead to sunset, the best part of staying on the west side of the Hawaiian Islands. That, and being on the drier, lee side.
I thought it might be nice to get a few family photos, too, a rarity for us. Rowan snapped an okay one of Thane and I.
I like this one of Thane and Rowan.
They, however, prefer this one of them trying to look like they belong in an insane asylum.
Ah, the joys of family.
