Okay, maybe actual carousing didn't occur, we were working with glass after all, but the six who took my fused glass coaster class last Saturday did all say they had fun. They created some wonderful art, too.
I always delight in seeing the innovative ideas people have for creating in glass when they're uninhibited by the "limitations" imposed by the medium. I not only come away with ideas of my own, but also with a great deal of general inspiration for play.
If you ever want to come play in my studio, let me know. I'm always happy to schedule play time a class for an individual or a group of up to six. The options for creativity are endless.
Andrew opted to create super hero insignias in glass. I have to admit, though, I don't know to whom the one on the bottom right belongs.
The one child in the class, Brock, had to be goaded a bit to finish all four coasters - I hope he thinks the final results were worth the effort. I especially like his Santa.
Jessica managed to create some lovely and original pieces while also keeping Brock going. The black lines with multicolored confetti may be my favorite here.
Linda exercised her creative muscles to depict mountains in four seasons, not an easy task.
Mary focused on careful placement of tiny scraps to create these - they remind me of confetti.
Wendy showed off her artistic training. She came prepared with not only ideas, but sketches, too! The lower right was her first, and in my opinion, most stunning coaster.
