Busy life has intervened over the last several weeks, and as a result, I haven't written a bit of flash fiction for Five Sentence Fiction or Visual Dare in over a month. I've looked at the last few prompts, including this week's FSF, locked, but haven't been inspired. This morning, however, as I looked at the great photo Lillie McFerrin used to accompany "locked," I realized that inspiration was not going to happen on its own. I needed to use my lack of motivation as a wake-up call. It was time to write. So, here you are, my latest five sentences. Don't forget to head to Lillie McFerrin's blog to read more stories prompted by "locked."

Her family home had been auctioned to pay for her mother’s lawyers, but they were welcome to it. It was a small price for freedom.
