One of my favorite things to do is go for a walk with my little camera stuck in my pocket. Even if I'm not looking for anything in particular, I'm more likely to spot the spectacular around me. Today, as I walked to the Pioneer Cemetery and then up the Valdez Glacier Stream dike back to my house, I took over 20 pictures. Many didn't work out the way I wanted; that's the nature of the beast. Thank goodness for digital technology! I thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you.
If you've driven on any of Alaska's roads statewide, you've surely noticed this has been a banner year for lupine. There are some divine stands of it in the ditches around Valdez.
I couldn't resist the simple elegance of this dandelion seed head. I don't care what anyone says, I like dandelions. They add a bit of sunshine to my environment, and the seed heads are a work of wonder.
What spectacular little things have you noticed in your world lately? Have you taken the time to slow down and look? Please do.
