Martin crouched, oblivious to the flood waters rising around him. It had taken him months to find the mirror. After it had dumped him in this world so like his own, the mirror had disappeared. He’d followed rumors and innuendo until he located it at this river’s edge.
Peering into the mirror, Martin scrutinized the scene, searching for confirmation that the world he saw was his. There were so many worlds, all so similar, and he wanted to be sure before he stepped through the mirror again.
“Oh, gods, what’s happening now?”
The world in the mirror started pouring through into the one in which he stood, colors blending into a black stream that flowed into the rising river and were swept away. In horror, Martin saw the confirmation he’d been seeking: his family and friends dissolved into the black and eddied around his feet before disappearing downstream.
Thanks once again to Angela at Anonymous Legacy for such a challenging Visual Dare prompt. I always enjoy trying to come up with a story of just 150 words that fits the photos. Be sure to follow the link to Angela's site to find more Mirror stories and the source of this wonderful photo.
