Tree Ornaments
I planted the acorn when I first moved into the stone cottage. With my help, it grew quickly, but it took decades before the tree was strong enough for decorating. It amused me to consider the possibilities for ornamentation.
I live a simple life, but it keeps me in practice to make my surroundings interesting. I’m fascinated by the unusual. Tropical flowers bloom in the snow, macaws cavort with crows, and a pack of dingoes dens under my stoop.
After careful deliberation, I determined what my oak needed. I’m not greedy; I only selected one specimen every ten years, and after 60 years, I think my collection is finally complete. Artfully arranged in the oak, from a distance they blend into the maze of branches. The six children are really quite lucky. They’ll forever have their youth and the joy of climbing in a tree.
Thanks to Angela at Anonymous Legacy for the photo prompt. I wonder where she finds so many unusual photos? Anyway, be sure to hop on over to her blog and follow the links to more stories (and photo source information).
