Thane has been accusing me all weekend of dragging him all over Hell's half acre. I think comparing Vancouver to Hell might be a bit strong, and I'm certainly not dragging him anywhere. I will, admit, however, that we've probably done more walking in the last three days than he normally does in a year. Today, even my feet were complaining.
This morning we walked to the Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park. We took the long way via the waterfront and a coffee shop. After nearly two hours of walking and gawking, Thane decided he didn't want to spend $42 to see fish, so we walked all the way back, with a stop for lunch along the way. Ah well, at least it was a beautiful day. Unlike yesterday, we didn't need to bundle up.
After a brief break in our hotel room, we wandered over to China Town. I guess even I was becoming city-worn: we strolled through a few blocks and said the heck with it. The main reason I'd wanted to go there was to see the traditional Chinese garden, but it was already closed.
On our way "home," we had dinner at Nuba, a lovely below-ground Lebanese restaurant. Lamb fritters, deep-fried cauliflower, a beef sausage-like meat on a skewer, lentils, and a fabulous orange cake with plain yogurt. I decided that the food itself was rather plain, even a little bland, but the sauces the dishes were served with were fabulous. And the mojito - I could have drank a pitcher!
I can't say that I'm looking forward to the three feet of snow we got in Valdez while we were gone, but as always, it'll be good to be home. Unfortunately, we won't be there until midnight tomorrow night. Oh well, at least Thane will do the driving!
For now, at least I have a few images of spring to tide me over. I'll even share with you.
