I spent hours today participating (sort of - I didn't really say much) in a dialogue about marine transportation out of British Columbia, specifically about potential transportation of bitumen from the tar sands of Alberta. It was interesting, but it was hard to be inside on a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver. They haven't had many lately.
Thane kept me company at the Morris J. Wosk Center for Dialogue in this fabulous room.
After the meeting, we met up with travel writer, cyclist, and adventuress (I want to be her) Colleen Friesen and her sweet husband, Kevin. They gave us a short walking tour of Vancouver before dinner at Cactus Club Cafe. I look forward to checking out all the sights Colleen highlighted for us on a tourist map. Thanks, Colleen! (By the way, the Cactus Club Cafe has really yummy curried lamb chops with cauliflower, spinach, and potatoes, not to mention a fabulous white rum and kiwi drink called a Brazilian.)
I had to be touristy for a moment and snap a picture of this sidewalk mosaic. I noticed a couple of others, too. I foresee more photographing of the ground in my future.
I thought these cargo cranes looked like prehistoric creatures in the sunset light (that's North Vancouver in the background).
