In Training
“Darn! That wasn’t supposed to happen,” Max muttered as he drifted down between two brick apartment buildings. Turning in the air, he settled on a ledge to contemplate his predicament.
So far, his nanny training had been going well. It was unusual for a boy to want to be a nanny, but he’d always been good with children, and he liked to help people. Now he just needed to master flying. Children always expected their nannies to fly.
Oh, going up was no problem. Max had mastered catching the slightest updraft under his umbrella and riding the winds up. He’d even practiced carrying others along on his coattails.
Coming down – that was the problem. Try as he might, Max couldn’t manage to land exactly where he wanted. Now, here he was, stuck on a brick ledge high above the sidewalk. Unfortunately, updrafts were hard to come by between buildings.
