A Superhero's First Day
I am a miserable failure as a superhero, Gary thought as he clung to the street signs. My first day, and I let a bully scare me up a pole. Mom’s going to kill me for losing my new cape, too.
A tear trickled down his cheek as he stared at the sidewalk far below. Several people had asked him if he needed help, but he’d just shook his head. A superhero didn’t ask for help. Pride could only hold him up for so long, though. Soon he’d have to find the guts to slide down and go home.
