Once again this week, Angela over at Anonymous Legacy has asked her cadre of flash fiction challenge participants to choose from one of the past Visual Dare prompts for this week's challenge. Since it's Halloween, I perused the archives for an appropriate image for the day. I settled on "Odd Couple," the prompt from the week before I started participating in Angela's challenges. Don't forget: head over to Angela's site to read the other bits of flash fiction written this week. They're always great.
Happy Halloween!
Odd Couple of Familiars
“Darn bird,” Pepper growled, the hair on his nape standing tall as he glared at the crow flying away from him. “If she’d let me be a proper cat, I’d take care of him – for good!”
Rion cackled as she swooped upwards, turning a loop-de-loop just over Pepper’s head. “Here she comes,” Rion crowed.
A snarl rumbled in Pepper’s chest when Rion landed on his head, but he resisted the urge to take a swipe at the crow. Their witch frowned at them when they fought. She seemed to think there should be harmony between her familiars. Hah!
