A friend posted on Facebook this morning that she'd lost 53 pounds since her gastric bypass surgery two months ago and had officially fallen below the "obese" category in the body mass index (BMI) charts. Just for fun, I thought I'd see where the almost-35 pounds I've lost in the last five months had gotten me. Still obese. Bummer. I need to lose another 10 pounds to leave the obese category and enter the merely overweight. It'll take 45 more than I've lost so far to become "normal."
Actually, it's not such a bad thing to have this information. I like having little goals to strive for. If all continues as it has been, I'll reach another milestone in the next two to three weeks, and after that "overweight" will be a piece of cake (unfortunately, not literally). Normal will feel like it just might be acheivable.
Until then, I'll continue to enjoy the fruits of what I have achieved: looking, feeling, and moving much better.
