I had a wonderful time wandering around Seattle this weekend: I got some Christmas shopping done, bought a few things for myself that I didn't really need , and ate delicious curry at Pike's Place Market. As much as I love wandering cities by myself, two days was plenty. Maybe I've just been to Seattle often enough that it doesn't have the novelty to keep me entertained like it used to. Whatever the reason, it's good to be home.
I did have the opportunity to see a lot of great fused glass art while I was there. One shop, Ventures, on First Avenue South, was particularly good. The store sells the work of various artists who are disadvantaged in some way, and is the retail arm of a local nonprofit organization. Lovely work and well worth finding. Anyway, from there and a couple of other shops, I came away with some good ideas for my own work, as well as a couple of thoughts on classes I could teach.
I'm frantically trying to finish getting ready for the Christmas bazaar in Valdez on December 4. Rowan and I were putting pendants in jewelry boxes last night and ran out of boxes. Hopefully the order I immediately placed will get here on time. I also need to finish putting findings on earrings and put together several picture frames. I'd like to have a schedule of classes for the new year ready, too. It's a good thing I have a long weekend coming up!
